Every grower has their own way of growing fuchsias and there are many sites available describing the many ways that different growers grow their plants, well, this is my way.....

This site is intended to provide a very basic look at the most popular forms of fuchsia culture.

What started out as an idea of providing a site to give some basic information for beginners has extended to 2 companion sites to this, covering more growing techniques (A Beginners Guide Part 2) and an exhibiting section (A Beginners Guide Part 3) see links.

I make no excuses for being as basic and simplistic as possible as these sites, although very useful for the more experienced grower and exhibitor, are primarily intended for the benefit of the newcomers to our fascinating hobby.

The bulk of the text of this site is taken from my booklet 'A New Beginners Guide to Basic Fuchsia 'Growing and Showing' which was kindly illustrated by Joan Goy.

The plant shown opposite is my winning exhibit of 'Insulinde' at the British Fuchsia Society Show in Harrogate September 2006.

The British Fuchsia Society are celebrating their 70th year by putting on a display at Wisley on the 19th, 20th and 21st August 2008 . This will be called A Feast Of Fuchsias.
